Mike Frost Project - Aug 5th

 The MikeFrostProject has been one of the most consistent and exciting jazz groups based in Chicago during the past few years. Led by tenor and soprano saxophonist Mike Frost, the band also features trumpeter Steve Frost, Demos Petropoulos on B3 organ, guitarist Bill Boris, and drummer Dave Bernat.

“We play straightahead jazz,” says Mike, “using great songs from the past
plus contributing new originals in a complementary style. Essentially we perform a modern day version of an earlier style but in our own way.” The heated and colorful solos of the Frost brothers, Petropoulos and Boris, along with the steady and stimulating support provided by Bernat, gives the group

its own joyful and highly accessible personality.  Their music has received rave reviews in print from All About Jazz, DownBeat, Cadence, Jazz Improv and more; enjoyed significant radio/internet/satellite airplay in the US and across the globe, and has been on the tops of JazzWeek, CMJ & EarShot jazz charts.  Their second CD, ‘Comin’ Straight At Ya’ made the first round nomination ballot for the Best Instrumental Jazz Album for the 2007 GRAMMY awards.  Their most recent CD, “LIVE” features all live performances from various locations throughout the Midwest. The band is also proud to be on the Chicago based record label, Blujazz.
